Boston Female Asylum is established.

Incorporated in 1803, it is an orphanage for destitute girls. The first public charitable institution in Boston, it is located at 1008 Washington by 1888 and instructs girls aged 3 to 10 in “common-school branches, sewing and domestic service.” The organization changes its name to the Boston Society for the Care of Girls, and becomes part of the Children’s Aid Association in 1922.
